Week 0311 Sept 2020
2. Everyday Home Life + Background
(coming back from work in the night, relaxing)

Person coming into the apartment turns on the lights and puts down keys and a bag. Walks to the closet/opens the drawer and grabs clothes to go into the bathroom and change clothes. Then the person washes their face and pats it dry. Walks out into the kitchen and boils water in the kettle, in the meantime they take a cup and spoon some coffee into the cup. Water finishes boiling and being poured into the cup and then stirred. They head to the fridge and take a milk carton and pour it into the cup of coffee. Then walks to the sofa, sits down and takes a sip of the coffee and releases a sigh. Then rain started pouring outside the window while they continued sipping coffee.

After getting feedback from Mr Razif on the story, here is the more descriptive version.
Everyday Home Life + Background Descriptive(coming back from work in the night, relaxing)
A woman can be heard walking outside the apartment, she stops and takes her keys out and unlocks the wooden door. She closes the door and locks it, then she removes her heels and puts down her keys and a bag on the table. Then she walks into her room (walking on a rug), opens a drawer and takes out some clothes then closes the drawer. She walks to the bathroom and turns on the light and closes the door. She changes her clothes and washes her face at the sink and pats it dry with a towel that she hangs back to the towel rack in the bathroom. She then walks into the kitchen and turns on the kettle to boil the water that is already in the kettle. In the meantime, she takes a cup out of a cabinet and spoons some coffee into the cup. The water finishes boiling then she pours the water into the cup and stirred with the teaspoon. She then walks to the living area and puts down her cup on a coffee table. She walks up to a window and opens it. She walks back to the sofa, sits down and takes a sip of the coffee and releases a sigh. Then rain started pouring outside, she puts her coffee down on the table and went to clothes the window quickly. She comes back to the sofa, sits down and continues sipping on the coffee while raindrops hit the windows.

After getting feedback from Mr Razif, I made changes to the story so that it is shorter.
A woman closes the door then turns on the light and puts down her keys and a bag on a table. Then she walks into her room, opens a drawer and takes out some clothes the closes the drawer. She walks to the bathroom and turns on the light and closes the door. She changes and washes her face at the sink. She then turns off the light and head to the kitchen and turns on the kettle to boil the water in the kettle. In the meantime, she takes a cup and pours a packet of instant coffee into the cup and puts a teaspoon in it. The water finishes boiling then she pours the water into the cup and stirs it with the teaspoon. She then walks to the living area, to the window and opens it up. She walks back to the sofa, sits down to takes a sip of coffee and releases a sigh. Then rain started pouring outside, she put her coffee down on a table and went to close the window quickly. She comes back to the sofa, takes the coffee, sits down and continues sipping on the coffee while raindrops hit the window.

After getting feedback from Mr Razif, here is the second draft.
And after getting feedback in class, here is the final project 1 audio.
FEEDBACK_
Week 04
Look at the detail of the sound effects in the story. Maybe when the rain stats falling, the window is open and the person quickly close the window, that way we can play with the depth of sound. Work on the description of the story and elaborate on the sound. Keep in mind of the room noises (ambience).
Week 05
25 Sept 2020
Walking before the keys sound stopped too abruptly. Can take out some scenes so that it doesn't take too long and actions can overlap. Maybe start straight away in apartment so it cuts down the duration.
Week 06
2 Oct 2020
Feedback on first draft: The clicking sound at the beginning is unclear/can't tell what the action is. The ambient sound of the room should disappear when entering the bathroom. The bathroom should have ambient sound. The changing of clothes is a bit too long, it can be shortened. Actions in the bathroom should have a slight reverb. Ambient sound should be present all time, and changing of space and ambient sound will introduce the character is moving. The kettle boiling can be shortened, and the clicking switch of electric kettle is missing. Shorten the walk to window. Ambient sound of the room when the window is open should be present and the sound from outside should be directional. Now it sounds like the person is in the space stepping outside instead of walking back to the sofa.
Feedback on second draft: The kettle switch sound should be heavier. The sound of the outside traffic should lower when walking back to the sofa even though it is panned.
REFLECTION_
EXPERIENCES
Week 03
I had to think for a while to decide what I wanted to do, but once I figured out the direction, story comes along with it.
Week 04
I was overwhelmed with the amount of sound that I will need for my story after listing them all down.
Week 05
Sometimes there's some really specific sound that I couldn't find and had to dig deeper in the website to find a suitable sound that I need.
Week 06
After fixing the final version, I'm happy with the outcome of the audio. There's enough elements in the story so its not as simple or too complicated.
OBSERVATIONS
Week 03
I looked through my youtube history to find idea.
Week 04
After listing the sounds that I would need, I realised the story might be too long.
Week 05
It took a long time to find all the sounds that I needed for the story.
Week 06
It was interesting to see or instead listen to what my classmates have done for this project since everyone has different ideas.
FINDINGS
Week 03
I got my inspiration from korean vlogs that I watch on youtube, they're usually a daily life vlog with no narration just sounds of what the vlogger is doing whether is cleaning the house or cooking.

Week 04
The amount of sounds that I would need discouraged me from continue on doing it.
Week 05
Since there's so many sounds that I need, I found myself working in parts to complete part of story, find the next part's sound, edit and repeat.
Week 06
I learned to not rename the sound files after I had use it in audition and if I want to rename the file, better to do it before I use it.
